The Diesel/Gas Australia technology works just as effectively on stationary engines (Turbo or Natually Aspirated) as it does on mobile equipment.
Due to the constant Revs that a stationary engine operates at it is possible to fumigate at a higher rate (30%) than with mobile engines. This effectively creates a saving by replacing approx. 30% of the diesel with a similar amount of LPG. Even after allowing for the cost of diesel being reduced by 38cpl duty free the savings are significant.
With units already operating at Blanchetown, Port Lincoln, Parilla and Peebinga in South Australia and numerous other sites in NSW, Victoria and Queensland there is ample evidence of the savings that can be made by using this technology.
PARILLA - SOUTH AUSTRALIA
In the early part of 2006 a trial was run at Parilla (in South Australia's Mallee region) on a Cat 3306 stationary engine (see photo below) used to pump water to centre pivots. The trial was run over 1500 hours and resulted in savings of $3.70 per hour or $5550 over the period of the trial. This equated to a capital payback of less that 1900 hours.
The success of this trial resulted in the DGA system being fitted to a further eleven (11) units within the Mallee region in later part of 2006. These engines were a combination of Caterpillars and Cummins.
Other benefits experienced by fumigating LPG on these engines is the reduced exhaust emissions (particularly black smoke) and the reduction in the operating temperature of the engine even in extreme conditions.

BLANCHETOWN - SOUTH AUSTRALIA
In 2004 at Blanchetown we fitted the DGA system to a Caterpillar Gen-Set used for powering a Quarry. The net savings on this unit were $8500 per year based on an approximately annual usage of 2800 hours.
Prior to the engine being fitted with our system the engine would shutdown during extreme hot periods causing frustrating delays. Now due to the efficiency improvement of the engine after the DGA system was fitted there has almost elimination in downtime during extreme ambient temperature periods.

CATERPILLAR C9 - NSW
Caterpillar C9 was fitted with the DGA system in October 2006 and was fuelled by a 4500L Elgas LPG cylinder. This engine operates at 1850rpm using 47 litres of diesel per hour before being fitted with the DGA system. Diesel consumption reduced to 32 litres per hour before being fitted with the DGA system. Diesel consumption reduced to 32 litres per hour resulting in an annual saving of $7,800 based on 2,000 hours per year.

MITSUBISHI 350HP - NSW
Mitsubishi 350HP was fitted with the DGA system in October 2006. This Mitsubishi operates at 1850rpm using 48 litres of diesel per hour prior to the gas conversion. Diesel consumption reduced to 33 litres per hour resulting in an annual saving of $7,600 based on an average of 2,000 hours per year.

VOLVO PENTA - NSW
Volvo Penta 350hp was fitted with the DGA system in 2006. The Volvo operates at 1800rpm using 52 litres of diesel per hour prior to the gas conversion. Diesel consumption reduced to 36 litres per hour resulting in an annual saving of $8,300 based on an average of 2,000 hours per year.

IVECO AIFO GENSET - NSW
Iveco Aifo was fitted with the DGA system in November 2006. The Iveco operates at 1500rpm using 21 litres of diesel per hour prior to the gas conversion. Diesel consumption reduced to 13.8 litres per hour resulting in an annual saving og $3,350 based on an average of 2,000 hours per year with an increase in performance and a reduction in emissions and greenhouse gasses.

M11 CUMMINS 350HP PUMP - QLD
The Diesel/Gas Australia System was installed on a booster Pump which is situated in a Sand Plant on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. The Booster Pump is a M11 Cummins 350hp motor which pumps sand for a national concrete company. This unit is achieving an hourly saviing of $3.60 and based on this unit running 2400 hour per annum returns a net saving of $8640. The capital payback is less than 12 months!
